Notes for version 1.1 ===================== I am an occasional user of this program (ED.EXE). It is a Windows interface to MSDOS based editors. Even today, I still find I do a significant amount of work in the editor I took pains to learn so long ago... But I was tired of carrying around VBRUN100.DLL (271264 bytes) for a small utility program. After discovering that ED was a freeware program, and that I had the source code, I decided to make a few very small alterations and re-upload it in case there was anyone else that needs it and doesn't have VB to recompile the source. The files that should be present in this release: ------------------------------------------------- README.TXT - This file. ED.EXE - The Ed interface executable ED.MAK - The Ed project file ED.FRM - The Ed form source code (ASCII) ED.FRX - The Ed form binary data ED.BAS - The Ed global file ED.TXT - ASCII documentation ED.HLP - The Ed Windows Help file ED.HPJ - The Ed Help Project file ED.RTF - The Ed Help file in Rich Text Format (WinHelp Source code) ED.BMP - The Ed Help file bitmap New in Version 1.1 ------------------ Config File: The ED.CTL file is no longer used. Option settings are now stored with the Windows INI files in EDCTL.INI Options: When checked, the "Exit After Starting Editor" option causes ED.EXE to terminate after starting your MSDOS editor. Help File: Version 1.0 used an ASCII text file as its help file, and Notepad was called to view it. Back when its author wrote this program, you were lucky to get ANY kind of help file. Thank goodness its a little easier to make .HLP files nowadays. Anyway, "Contents" has replaced "Reference". Miscellaneous: A. The Maximize button has been removed. It served no purpose. B. The border is now of type "Fixed Single". I didn't feel that a sizable border was appropriate. You can of course change it back in the source code...
